Joanne Blasts TfL Over Victoria Line Problems
Following a number of complaints from constituents, Joanne McCartney, London Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey, wrote to TfL on 21 July to ask for urgent action to be taken over the delays to the Victoria line.
It appears today that TfL have admitted that the problems are as a result of the new trains on the Victoria Line, which are 23 times more unreliable than the 43 year old trains they have replaced.
Joanne McCartney, London Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey, said: "I was very concerned, after having received reports from a number of constituents, about excessive delays happening on the Victoria Line. One local resident was stuck in a tunnel for an hour.
“I would have thought TfL would have adequately tested these trains before letting them loose on the public. I will be finding out from the Mayor why this essential testing did not take place.
“I hope that TfL will be taking urgent action to prevent more people being trapped underground for hours in sweltering conditions.”
